Mattia De Sciglio has reassured Juventus fans after undergoing serious knee surgery following his recent injury.

The 30-year-old Italian fullback suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament in the 32nd minute of the Bianconeri’s 2-1 win over Lecce on May 3, an injury that could keep him sidelined for the rest of the calendar year. It hasn’t been an easy campaign for De Sciglio, who also missed 15 games earlier this season due to a hamstring injury. Despite his struggles, the 30-year-old has seen 1371 minutes of action in 25 games. Posting on his social media after his surgery, De Sciglio shared a photo of himself smiling in a hospital bed alongside the caption, “The countdown begins.” Juventus’s Italian teammate at the back, Federico Chiesa, recently returned from a cruciate ligament injury, missing about 10 months of action after suffering the rupture in January of last year. De Sciglio is under contract with Juventus until June 2025 and hopes to return to the field in the first half of next season.
