AC Milan are close to finalizing the acquisition of Youssouf Fofana. The deal is all but sealed after the Italian club proposed an offer in excess of €20 million, including bonuses, which convinced Monaco to give in, especially as the player had already expressed his desire to leave the team. Fofana, whose contract expires in June 2025, has been in talks with Milan for several weeks, and is set to sign a contract lasting until 2028 on a net salary of €3 million a year.

Negotiations are nearing completion, and according to sources close to the matter, it is possible that Fofana will travel to Milan very soon to undergo the necessary medical examinations before finalizing his transfer. The French midfielder will thus become AC Milan’s fourth recruit of the mercato, after Alvaro Morata, Pavlovic and Emerson.

Monaco general manager Thiago Scuro confirmed the progress of discussions at a press conference today, stressing that the two clubs are continuing to work towards a mutually satisfactory agreement, hoping for a swift conclusion to the transaction.

Milan coach Paulo Fonseca had clearly expressed the need to strengthen the defense during a press conference after the match against Monza : “We need a midfielder in front of the defense, and Fofana is the man we’need.” Following these statements, Milan intensified their efforts to finalize this important transfer, marking a turning point in their recruitment campaign.
