A little away from the cameras after his retirement, Andrea Barzagli recently appeared before the media to opine on the performance of Serie A clubs on an international scale.
For the former Juventus defender, Italian clubs have officially made a comeback on the European stage. This season, a club from the Italian league was in the European Cup final, but unfortunately they all lost. But that doesn’t take anything away from the rise of the league they represent in Europe (Serie A), Barzagli argues. “At European level, we’ve grown a lot. In our clubs, there are a lot of foreigners, but here there is quality. But I know that the teams who have done better in the cups have suffered in the league. But the main thing to remember is that we’re back in the top flight,” the Juve legend told La Republica.
