Milan president Paolo Scaroni supports coach Stefano Pioli and hopes the new stadium will be open for the 2028-29 season.
“We must continue to support not only the coach, but also the staff and the team, especially at a time when I’ve read some frankly exaggerated criticism. We need to stay united and work in a positive spirit. I’m used to judging a coach’s work at the end of the season, and I want to remind everyone that AC Milan’s performance in recent years, under Stefano Pioli, has given great satisfaction to our fans. As we have already stressed on several occasions, restructuring the Stadio Meazza is impossible. Nor are there any suitable stadiums nearby in which we can play temporarily. Having said that, we also need a new, innovative stadium capable of offering a unique spectator experience and guaranteeing the revenues needed to keep the club among the elite of European soccer, looking ahead to the future that AC Milan deserves. We want to build the most beautiful stadium in the world and, according to our plans, the first match will be played there at the start of the 2028-29 season,” Scaroni told MilanNews.it.
