Italy were stunned by Macedonia, who held them to a 1-1 draw. This was part of the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign. Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali analyzed the match afterwards. He felt that the condition of the pitch left much to be desired. For him, the Squadra Azzurra didn’t play their best game technically.

“The pitch is not an alibi, but it counts for a lot in soccer. We didn’t play the best game technically, but we created a lot of chances to break the deadlock straight away. We conceded in the last 15 minutes of a match that had been under control for 70 minutes,” Sandro Tonali told Sky Sport.
