Victor Osimhen won the African Ballon d’Or award on Monday. The trophy was awarded in recognition of his performances with Napoli last season. On top of this, the Italian club could reward the Nigerian with a contract extension. Everything is finally in place, but one small detail is holding up the formalization.

After 13 meetings between Roberto Calenda, Victor Osimhen’s agent, and Napoli’s administration, the two parties are said to have reached an agreement. The former Lille man is set to extend his lease until 2028, with an annual fee of around €10 million. Although the main clauses seem to have been agreed, one final point is blocking the formalization of the deal, which is due to take place this month. This concerns the release clause. Napoli would like to set it at 150 million euros, while the player’s entourage wants to reduce it to 120 million euros.
