Napoli have confirmed that Victor Osimhen suffered a thigh injury during the international break, which means he is likely to be ruled out of a number of the Partenopei’s upcoming matches.
Osimhen limped off early in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with Roberto Mancini’s Saudi Arabia on Friday and has since left the camp to return to Napoli for medical examinations. A statement published on the official Napoli club website confirmed that the Serie A 2022-23 Capocannoniere has suffered a medium-grade injury to the biceps femoris of the right thigh. Osimhen is expected to be ruled out for at least three of Napoli’s upcoming matches. However, Sky Sport Italia noted that the usual recovery time for this type of injury is usually around four to six weeks. Rudi Garcia will now have to do without at least his top scorer for the forthcoming games against Hellas Verona in Serie A, the Champions League trip to Union Berlin, and the match against AC Milan the following weekend.
