Fabio Maresca was on the whistle at the Udinese-Milan match last Saturday, and it was he who had to deal with the racist incidents involving Mike Maignan, the rossoneri goalkeeper. Maresca told Ansa what happened:
“I behaved like a big brother, I was genuinely sorry for Maignan, who was clearly emotionally affected. I put my hand on his shoulder and tried to reassure him, also on a human level, in case he had a strong reaction to a supporter. I was really embarrassed, both for the player and for the situation in general.
