Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to keep Luciano Spalletti at Napoli and reportedly intends to increase his salary in a new contract. Spalletti’s Napoli are on course to win their first Scudetto since the days of Diego Maradona and are considered one of the favorites to win the Champions League this season, facing AC Milan in the quarterfinals.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Spalletti’s current contract expires at the end of this season and Napoli want to protect his future beyond a simple one-year extension, so De Laurentiis is drafting a new contract for the coach. The current idea is to offer Spalletti a new two-year contract worth about 4 million euros net per season plus add-ons. Much depends on the results of this season, however, as winning both Serie A and the Champions League could push Spalletti to consider a new challenge, similar to the way Jose Mourinho left Inter after the Treble winning campaign.
