Pierpaolo Marino, former general manager of Napoli and Udinese, has given an interview to Corriere dello Sport. The subject was Aurelio De Laurentiis, President of the reigning Italian champions, whom he knows very well. He also talked about how he has spent the last month working alongside the team and the coach.
“He’s a great entrepreneur who, like everyone else, needs collaborators, managers and coaches who are also human resource optimizers capable of dealing with certain situations. The clinic owner can’t be a surgeon too,” he declared. In other words, despite his knowledge in the field, De Laurentiis will not be able to take on certain responsibilities, particularly technical ones. Marino also spoke about the possibility of seeing Igor Tudor on the Napoli bench. “If he chooses Tudor, there will be no lack of enthusiasm. I’ve been going to the Maradona since I was a kid, and it’s a stadium for fantasists, who also know how to appreciate those who put their heart, pride and guts into it above and beyond their role and qualities. That’s why I’m convinced that, with him on the bench, the fans will never leave the stadium thinking that the team didn’t give its best on the pitch,” he concluded. After 12 matchdays in the league, Napoli are in 4th place. With 21 points, they are 10 points behind leaders Inter Milan.
