Last Thursday’s Nations League draw pitted Italy against Belgium, France and Israel in Group A2. Following the draw, Luciano Spalletti, coach of the Squadra Azzurra, gave his views on the draw.
“This competition was created intelligently to raise the level of the teams that play it. These matches here give you the opportunity to continually improve,” began the former Napoli coach. He then went on to comment on the match against France, the group favourites, whom he describes as a formidable team. “Will France be the most formidable opponent? Yes, because they’re a national team with a long history. These are always very tight games, and there will be a lot of motivation to be ready,” Luciano Spalletti told Rai Sport.
