However, Gabriele Gravina, President of the Italian Football Federation, has reiterated that coach Luciano Spalletti’s position is not in jeopardy. Here are his words to Radio Rai

“We have to be aware that Italy must be seeded for the World Cup, and the Nations League is the first stage of a two-year journey. We’ve admitted our mistakes and analyzed them, but evaluating a coach’s work on the basis of short-term results is a strategic error. When we chose Spalletti, he was the best coach on the market. I’ve seen him work and I have absolute confidence in him, as well as giving him the time he needs to achieve results, because, for a whole series of reasons, our selectables are limited compared to other nations.”
