When asked about his future last night, AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli announced that he would be meeting Milan’s directors at the end of the season to discuss his future with the club.
Pioli is under fire following AC Milan’s elimination from the Europa League quarter-finals against Roma. Reports in Italy had claimed that the Italian tactician would be sacked at the end of the season if he failed to qualify for the semi-finals. As a result, journalists asked him last night at a post-match press conference what AC Milan’s defeat by Roma meant for his future. “Be patient and wait until the end of the season. At that point, the club and I will discuss it. Assessments have to be made at the end of the season, even if the results in Europe were worse than last quarter. We still have the league, where we can do much better than last season. We need to change a lot of things in the derby,” replied the Parma-born coach, quoted by Milannews. Pioli’s contract with AC Milan expires in June 2025. The Rossoneri are currently second in the Serie A table, 14 points below their city rivals.
