Milan coach Stefano Pioli refused to comment on the Super League at a press conference ahead of Friday’s match against Salernitana.
Pioli was the first Serie A coach to speak to the press on Thursday, following a ruling by the European Court of Justice that strengthened Super League clubs’hopes of creating a competition outside UEFA and FIFA. “I have just read the information, so I don’t have all the tools to give a verdict,” said Pioli quoted by Milannews. AC Milan were among the 12 elite European clubs who announced the Super League in April 2021. However, they quickly followed the Premier League teams in withdrawing from the breakaway tournament just 48 hours after the initial announcement. The Rossoneri will visit Filippo Inzaghi’s Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi on Friday. AC Milan are third in the Serie A table, nine points behind leaders Inter. The Rossoneri have scored 29 league goals this season and conceded 18.
