Renowned former footballer Stefano Impallomeni recently gave an interview to TMW Radio in which he openly criticized Luciano Spalletti, the current coach of the Italian national team. His comments highlighted several shortcomings he perceives in the management and performance of the Squadra Azzurra under Spalletti.

Impallomeni criticized Spalletti’s tactical choices, questioning why players like Modric, even at the ripe old age of 38, could still dominate the pitch against Italy. “Spalletti needs to tell the story better: why was Modric, at 38, the best player on the pitch?” he said, pointing to a lack of clarification and justification for the decisions taken by the coach. The former footballer concluded by calling for better communication from Spalletti and greater receptiveness to constructive criticism. “He shouldn’t get upset if others make a criticism,” he added, implying that criticism is essential for the Italian national team’s continuous improvement.
