Inter defender Stefan de Vrij suffered a muscle injury while on international duty with the Netherlands and could miss the next Serie A match against Empoli.
Calciomercato.com reports that De Vrij suffered a minor muscle injury during a training session with the Dutch national team on Thursday. According to the report, it is likely to be a muscle overstretch that could keep the experienced defender out of action for at least two weeks. Inter’s medical staff are in contact with their Dutch colleagues and will soon assess the former Lazio defender. Simone Inzaghi will be short of defensive options against the Tuscans if De Vrij is unable to recover and Francesco Acerbi is banned following alleged racist insults to Juan Jesus. The sports judge is expected to rule on the Acerbi case next week.
