Luciano Spalletti spoke at a press conference today, and the Nazionale coach obviously looked back on the last Euro and made his mea culpa. Here are his words, as reported by Corriere dello Sport:
“I had a bad summer, very bad, because I was always thinking about that. The match against Switzerland was bad, and the one against Spain was just as bad. We didn’t behave in the right way, we didn’t honor our history. I feel responsible for what happened. I told the players that I had put them under too much pressure. I don’t remember any of my teams not fighting; in my thirty-year career, that’s never happened. I hope the players felt the same discomfort as I did. I took a three-day vacation away, no more, because I was embarrassed to have put the tifosi through such a difficult time.
