With Nicolò Barella on trial, Italy experimented with a 3-5-2 formation with Nicolò Fagioli in midfield ahead of Sunday’s friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The Azzurri took a break for a few days and returned together to the Coverciano training ground to resume training today. After the 0-0 draw with Turkey, their final test will be against Bosnia on Sunday. Inter midfielder Barella and Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret are still undergoing treatment for muscular problems and are undergoing tests. Coach Luciano Spalletti seems ready for a 3-5-2 formation, having started with 4-3-3 against Turkey, which explains some of the choices made in the final 26-man squad. (3-5-2) : Donnarumma; Darmian, Buongiorno, Calafiori; Cambiaso, Frattesi, Fagioli, Folorunsho, El Shaarawy; Raspadori, Scamacca.
