With Euro 2024 just around the corner, Luciano Spalletti is increasingly considering the best possible tactical layout for the Nazionale. La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed that the Italian coach intends to change his approach, taking inspiration from Serie A clubs.
Since taking charge of the Nazionale, he has opted for a 433 formation, but he could switch to a 3-man defense and an attack with 2 attacking midfielders and a top striker, to form a 3421. The men at the back would be the same, with a trio of Di Lorenzo, Acerbi, Bastoni and Dimarco on the left. The Juventino Cambiaso could have his change at right-back, Barella and Locatelli would form the central midfield pairing, a notch ahead we would find Chiesa and Frattesi and Scamacca would be the starting striker. This system could make the most of alternatives to the incumbents, such as Scalvini and Buongiorno at the back, or Udogie and Darmian on the flanks, who would thus rediscover their tactical bearings at club level.
