At a press conference yesterday, Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi confirmed that Inter had signed Mehdi Taremi as a free agent.
Inzaghi was speaking to DAZN after Serie A’s 1-0 defeat to Sassuolo when he was shown footage of Taremi’s goal for Porto against Chaves.
“He’s an important player, he’s got a lot of experience in Champions League matches, in Europe, he’s scored a lot of goals and we’re happy to have him. We will have a bigger team next season, so we needed more strikers,” said the coach. The club had already made an approach for the FC Porto star last summer and again in January, but were rejected by the asking price. Instead, they have laid the foundations to scoop the moment his contract expires on June 30 and a medical examination has reportedly already been arranged and passed. Inter need to strengthen their squad, as they will be both in the Champions League and have already qualified for the 2025 Club World Cup tournament next summer. Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Inzaghi didn’t deny either when asked that Inter had obtained Piotr Zielinski from Napoli and Taremi as free agents.
