Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio was at the Stadio Olimpico for Roma’s Europa League win over RB Salzburg, carefully observing a number of players.
The Nerazzurri are preparing for an important summer mercato, aware that the right reinforcements are needed to help them get back in the fight for the Scudetto. Simone Inzaghi’s team missed out on the league title by two points last season and essentially have no hope of catching Napoli this season, trailing by 15 points. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Ausilio personally attended the Europa League clash between Roma and RB Salzburg, keeping a close eye on a number of players from both teams. He knows the Giallorossi well, with an interesting target being defender Chris Smalling, and was interested in seeing the work of one player in particular: Noah Okafor of Salzburg. Unfortunately the Swiss striker failed to impress against Roma, and the Nerazzurri are now focusing on future free agent Marcus Thuram.
