Here are the best French players of the second day of Serie A, as rated and commented by Gazzetta dello Sport.

Florian Thauvin – Udinese (7,5)

The decisive pass for Lucca’s goal and the 2-0 winner, a real gem. A real leader’s game.

Ange-Yoan Bonny – Parma (7)

An all-round centre-forward’s performance: he scores, but is offside. He gives a great defender like Pavlovic a hard time, distributes good balls to his team-mates and manages possession well.

Benjamin Pavard – Inter (6,5)

In the first half, his forays were so frequent that you forgot he was supposed to be playing 40 yards lower: he seemed to be saying to Bisseck “now sit back down on the bench”.

Marcus Thuram – Inter (6,5)

He could still have scored his little goal, but he missed. One back-heel after another to find his team-mates, often Taremi, then Gaspar thwarted him in the box.

Woyo Coulibaly – Parma (6,5)

Aggressive, lucid. He defended and carried the ball, conceding very little. He lost half a point not because he was passed by Leao on the equaliser, but because he didn’t keep up with him.
