Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini believes that Gianluca Scamacca can “become Italy’s first-choice centre-forward” after scoring a spectacular brace against Empoli.
Italian coach Luciano Spalletti was in the stands at the Stadio Castellani last night, and one of the players he was there to watch was Scamacca. The striker then put in a fine performance, scoring twice. “He started the season well, then had a few injury problems that slowed him down. Scamacca can certainly improve, especially in his finishing. He has different characteristics to Rasmus Hojlund and could become Italy’s starting center-forward. We certainly hope so, and are all working to help him raise the bar even higher,” explained Gasperini.
