Sassuolo has confirmed that striker Domenico Berardi has undergone successful surgery on his Achilles following the injury sustained in the Neroverdi’s 1-0 defeat by Hella Verona at the weekend.
The Verona match was his first in six games after returning from a minor meniscus injury. Sassuolo have since confirmed that Berardi had a tenorrhaphy on his ruptured Achilles tendon at the Toniolo clinic in Bologna. He was accompanied by the club doctor, Dr Riccardo Saporiti. The Sassuolo club statement confirmed that Berardi’s operation was “perfectly successful”. Berardi is expected to miss the rest of the 2023-24 Serie A campaign, as well as the Euro 2024 tournament in Germany this summer. Sassuolo and coach Davide Ballardini, meanwhile, have 11 games left of the Serie A season to climb out of the relegation zone.
