The defeat to Empoli was certainly the last straw. It was one defeat too many, ejecting Rudi Garcia from his position as Napoli coach. He was replaced by Walter Mazzarri. The French coach was keen to bid farewell to the Azzurri fans.

My most sincere thanks to them, to the players and to all those who are close to the team, and good luck for the rest of the championship and for the Champions League,” said the French coach on social network X (formerly Twitter).
