Romelu Lukaku was announced a few days ago as being very close to signing for Napoli, following an agreement between the Azzurri and Chelsea. However, the latest news is that the deal is still some way off, due to a financial discrepancy between the two parties.

Romelu Lukaku, after a successful 2023-2024 season with Roma (47 games, 21 goals, 4 assists), has caught the eye of Napoli, who are keen to recruit him. The aim is to compensate for the possible departure of Victor Osimhen. However, the clubs are struggling to agree on a transfer price. Chelsea are asking for €40 million. The club headed by Aurelio de Laurentiis is only willing to pay €25 million plus any bonuses. This does not suit the London club at the moment. Napoli could, however, increase their offer if they manage to raise more funds, following the possible departure of Nigerian striker Osimhen.
