Romelu Lukaku victim of racist insults, apology expected

Juventus Turin hosted Inter Milan in the semi-finals of the Italian Cup. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. But insults and racist remarks have tarnished the image of the game which was well done. The fans of the Piedmont club have attacked Romelu Lukaku, who was washed out of the match with offensive words. Roc Nation Sports International, the company that represents the Belgian, demands a public apology from the Old Lady.

“The racist insults directed from Juventus fans in Turin to Romelu Lukaku were beyond what can be accepted. Romelu scored a penalty in extra time: before, during and after the penalty, he was subjected to hostile and disgusting racist insults. Romelu celebrated in the same way he celebrated the goals earlier, the referee’s response was to issue a yellow card. Romelu deserves an apology from Juventus, and I expect the Lega Serie A to immediately condemn the behavior of this group of Juventus fans. The Italian authorities should take this opportunity to fight racism, rather than punishing the victim of the abuse. I am sure the soccer world shares the same sentiment,” the agency wrote on Twitter.
