José Mourinho is no longer coach of AS Roma, the Portuguese having been sacked after two and a half seasons on the Giallorossi bench. The club made the announcement in a statement posted on social networks: “We would like to thank José for his passion and commitment since his arrival. We will always remember him fondly, but we feel that an immediate change is necessary in the club’s interests.”
Roma were coming off two defeats, an elimination in the Italian Cup quarter-finals against Lazio and a league defeat by Milan that relegated them to 9th place. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, former symbol Daniele De Rossi is the favorite to take his place as interim coach until June.
