Roma have reportedly reached an agreement with West Ham to bring Gianluca Scamacca to the Stadio Olimpico for the 2023-24 season on an initial loan deal with an option to buy, which could become binding if certain conditions are met.
It’s no secret that the Giallorossi are looking for a new striker following Tammy Abraham’s long-term injury at the end of the 2022-23 campaign. Scamacca, who joined West Ham from Sassuolo for around €36 million just over a year ago, has been linked with a return to Italy for several months now. Now, Rome seems to be his next destination. According to Calciomercato.com, West Ham are prepared to let Scamacca leave on loan for a fee of around €4-5 million, with an option to buy for €22 million. Scamacca has been omitted from West Ham’s squad for their latest pre-season friendlies and has already deleted the words “West Ham player” from his Instagram bio. Tiago Pinto is reportedly flying to London to finalize the deal next week.
