Chris Smalling has reportedly agreed to sign a new contract with Roma following a meeting with his agent.
The 33-year-old English defender’s current deal expires with the Giallorossi at the end of this season and there has been a lot of speculation about his future, with Inter seemingly keen to snatch the former Manchester United man. His agent James Featherstone arrived in the Italian capital earlier this week to try and secure a new contract for the center-back, and things have gone well. Corriere dello Sport reports that Smalling has now agreed to sign a new two-year contract, extending his stay with Roma until June 2025. The club’s management has raised his offer to get an agreement across the line, agreeing to pay a slightly lower salary compared to his current contract. He will now earn about 3.5 million euros net per season plus add-ons.
