Nemanja Matic has agreed a deal with Rennes and is now pushing for a move away from Roma , but the club is unwilling to let him go, according to reports.
The 35-year-old Serbian midfielder, known as coach Jose Mourinho’s favorite, has entered the final year of his contract with the Giallorossi. He played regularly last season, seeing over 3,100 minutes of action out of 50 total appearances. Yesterday, news emerged from France detailing an agreement between Matic and Rennes, who had offered him a contract worth slightly less than his current deal in the Italian capital. As reported by Calciomercato.com, Roma had never intended to sell Matic this summer and were shocked by his pressing desire to leave for Rennes this month. The Serbian veteran hopes to leave the Italian capital, but everything depends on Rennes’s offer. The French side are hoping for a small compensation, but this seems unlikely to convince the Giallorossi.
