Roma have abandoned their attempts to sign Marcos Leonardo from Santos, according to Sky Sport Italia, as he will only be available from January.
The Brazilians were ready to sell and the Giallorossi had agreed to meet the asking price of 12 million euros plus 6 million euros in add-ons. However, with Santos currently fourth from bottom, selling other strikers and changing coach, the club decided it was too risky to lose their star man. Negotiations continued, and Marcos Leonardo even refused to train with his team-mates for several days in an attempt to force the move. However, Sky Sport Italia claims that Roma recognize that this is doomed to failure and will concentrate on other targets.
