Rafael Leao was forced to miss the first leg of the Champions League semi-final between AC Milan and Inter, and has no intention of missing the decisive clash next week.

The 23-year-old Portuguese winger did not take part in the Rossoneri’s 2-0 loss to the Nerazzurri on Wednesday after suffering a muscle injury in his thigh. Leao’s absence was painfully felt and AC Milan failed to impress against Inter, leaving them with a mountain to climb in the second leg if they are to qualify for the final.

As detailed by Calciomercato.com, Leao wants to be fit and ready for the second leg against Inter and is working hard on his recovery in training. In agreement with the medical staff of the club, the 23-year-old player has again carried out a personalized training yesterday morning in Milanello, working separately from his teammates. He will not participate in their Serie A clash against Spezia this weekend. Despite this, AC Milan are optimistic that he will be available for the return match against Inter. On Sunday or Monday, Leao will continue to increase his workload and hopefully return to the team’s training, allowing him to prepare a bit before Tuesday night.
