Gianluigi Buffon, current head of delegation for the Italian national team, gave an interview to Tuttosport. He discussed the issue of young players in Serie A and his resentment when he was playing for Juventus Turin.
“Yes, I think so. I don’t know what kind of awareness they have of playing in Serie A, of representing a fan base, because it’s a different type of soccer, far removed from the choices and values we grew up with. For me, playing in Serie A, with Juve or Parma, was redemption. Not social but existential, it gave me goose bumps. Now, I’m afraid the existential debate is different: with social networks, a young footballer already feels at the center of the world,” declared Gianluigi Buffon.
