Patrick Kluivert joined Roma in 2018 from Ajax Amsterdam for €17 million. Five years later, he joined Bournemouth, without really shining in the Italian capital. In a recent media interview, he spoke of his difficulties with the Giallorossi.

“I arrived in a new environment, very different from Amsterdam where I lived with my mother and brothers. Settling in a big city like Rome, playing for a big team in the Champions League, was very difficult. What’s more, the coach and staff who took me there left after six months (Di Francesco, editor’s note). So there was a new coach, a new manager, who had his own plan, and that was also something I had already faced in my soccer career. At Ajax, everything was going well, everything was beautiful. I was playing, feeling good, and then all of a sudden you’re sitting on the bench for four or five games. It was something I had to learn, but I have a lot of good memories of Rome,” said Patrick Kluivert.
