Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski is set to miss tonight’s Serie A clash with Cagliari after reporting inflammation in his leg following Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Braga in the Champions League.
According to Corriere dello Sport and TMW, the Polish international has been called up for tonight’s match, but is keen to avoid aggravating his current injury problem. It was feared that Zielinski would be unable to take part in next weekend’s league match against José Mourinho’s Roma if he returned early from the Cagliari game. Gianluca Gaetano, 23, is the newspaper favourite to replace the injured Zielinski in midfield. He is thought to be preferred to summer recruit and Swedish international Jens Cajuste. Corriere dello Sport also notes that Walter Mazzarri would have to do without Elif Elmas, who is also expected to miss the team through injury.
