Piotr Zielinski has confirmed that “negotiations are underway” with Napoli regarding a new contract, and spoke openly about Saudi Arabia’s interest this summer.
The 29-year-old Polish midfielder, who played an important role in the team’s Scudetto success under Luciano Spalletti last season, was strongly linked with a move to Al-Ahli this summer, receiving a lucrative offer with a net value of around €14-15 million per season. Zielinski did not move and remained at Napoli, entering the final year of his contract in the Campania capital: “Negotiations are ongoing. As I’ve already said, my agent is taking care of everything. I’ve achieved something more here in Europe, like playing in the Champions League. And I’ve decided that now is not the time to chase money. I’m not complaining. Money isn’t everything. I know that maybe in the future there will be an equally attractive offer and I’ll take advantage of it, but for now I’ve decided that it would be better to continue my career in Europe,” the Polish international told TVP Sport via TMW.
