AC Milan have confirmed that defender Pierre Kalulu has undergone surgery for a torn tendon and will be out of action for at least four months.
The club were already concerned when he limped off in the opening minutes of the 2-2 draw with Napoli at the weekend. He required a specialist consultation which confirmed a complete rupture of the left rectus femoris tendon. Kalulu underwent surgery yesterday in Finland, performed by Professor Lasse Lempainen in the presence of Milanese medical chief Stefano Mazzoni, and it was “a complete success”. The recovery time indicated in the press release is estimated at “around four months”. This is a major blow, as Kalulu has already missed several games this season due to another muscle injury.
