Olivier Giroud has admitted that he is “not thinking” about a new deal with AC Milan, but that he is “still happy” to be at the club.
The 37-year-old Frenchman has become a key figure in Stefano Pioli’s team, being the front man in the front line. Alongside star winger Rafael Leao, Giroud is a key source of goals, scoring 36 in 92 appearances in total. Giroud started the season on fire, scoring four goals in the first three league games, but he hasn’t scored for a month now. With his cover being Luka Jovic and Noah Okafor, the Frenchman will remain a regular starter under Pioli for the coming months.
“We want to do well in this second Champions League match, to do better than we did against Newcastle. It won’t be a decisive match, but it will be very important. We’ve changed a lot of players and strengthened the team, and we want to play fantastically in both competitions, the Champions League and the league. We have more quality than last year. Personally, I want to do more and more for the team. I miss scoring a bit and I hope to do it soon. I’m not thinking about a new contract at the moment, I’m concentrating on this year. I’m always happy to be here, I have been since day one,” said the French international at a Snai event via TMW.
