AC Milan striker Olivier Giroud has explained why VAR is so frustrating as a player, and is open to the idea of playing in the Summer Olympics.
The French international still hasn’t decided whether or not to sign a new contract, with recent reports suggesting he’s tempted to move to MLS club Los Angeles FC. Giroud has continued to prove himself a reliable and useful option for AC Milan this season, scoring 12 goals and providing eight assists in 26 league games, prompting some fans to lobby the club for a new contract. Speaking to Canal+, Giroud was asked what he’d change about modern soccer. “Forgive me, but what bothers me a little is VAR. It takes a long time, they make you wait and despite that, they still manage to make bad decisions. I’d like us to find a good way of regaining a bit of spontaneity. I don’t want to take Coach Henry’s place. But I think it might be a good idea to give me a call,” he declared. Giroud will sit down with AC Milan management this summer to discuss a possible new deal. On Tuesday, it was reported that LAFC were in “advanced” talks with the French striker.
