Milan beat Empoli 3-0 yesterday, and Olivier Giroud was again among the scorers, converting a penalty to score his 9th Serie A goal of the season. At the halfway stage, he is second top scorer in the Italian league alongside Domenico Berardi and behind Lautaro Martinez (16). The 37-year-old striker has scored 42 goals in all competitions since joining Milan in the summer of 2021, a goal every 176 minutes played.
As reported in today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, for the 14th consecutive season he has just passed the 10-goal mark in a single season. In fact, in addition to his 9 Serie A goals, he has also scored in the Champions League. It should be noted that Giroud is at the end of his contract and his future will be decided in the spring, with a fourth season at Milan not out of the question according to Italian rumours.
