Inter legend Marco Materazzi believes that new owners Oaktree “will not make the same mistake as AC Milan”, and is convinced that Lautaro Martinez and Nicolò Barella will extend their contracts with the Serie A champions.
Former Inter defender Materazzi believes that new club owners Oaktree will continue to rely on their current directors and won’t be parting with them any time soon. “Oaktree will confirm with the directors that they won’t make the same mistake in Milan with Maldini and Massara. I don’t think Oaktree will make the same mistake as the other Milan team, who expelled competent people like Maldini and Massara and used them as scapegoats. It’s a pity because Suning have built and won a lot. On the positive side, the management will remain the same; to change it would be a fatal error. Zhang wanted to take Inter to the top of Europe and the world, and he almost succeeded. Now a new adventure begins, and consistency is essential. I think Oaktree has already studied Inter and knows that they are a respected family in the world. The stadium is always full, the club is pushing in the right direction. The important thing is that there’s clarity. Lautaro and Barella are the captains and I’m sure they won’t have any problems extending their contracts,” declared Materazzi.
