Juventus confirms that Wojciech Szczesny has undergone “perfectly successful” surgery after suffering a fractured nose in the Derby della Mole, and his condition will be “assessed daily”.

The Polish international sustained a nose injury during Juventus’s 0-0 draw with Torino and underwent surgery on Saturday evening, the Old Lady said in an official statement. Doctor Libero Tubino performed the surgery at the Chivasso hospital in the presence of Juventus doctor Marco Freschi. Szczesny spent the night in hospital and will be released in the next few hours, Juventus said. The Polish international will be assessed daily before the next Serie A match against Cagliari on Friday April 19. The duration of his unavailability has not been specified, but the Polish goalkeeper is expected to miss at least Juve’s next league match against Cagliari on Friday.
