Inter continue to strengthen their key players and have recently opened contract extension negotiations with Nicolo Barella.

The Nerazzurri have been hard at work in recent months, working on new deals for various key players in Simone Inzaghi’s squad such as Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Matteo Darmian, Federico Dimarco, Denzel Dumfries and Lautaro Martinez. Inter impressed last season by reaching the Champions League final, and have maintained that momentum this season, climbing to the top of the Serie A standings and reaching the last 16 of the Champions League. Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Inter recently met with Barella’s agent, Alessandro Beltrami, to begin contract negotiations.

The two parties will meet shortly, keen to conclude a new agreement quickly. Although there is no major urgency, neither party wishes to delay, and current indications suggest that a new contract could be put on paper within the first few weeks of the new year. Barella currently earns around €5 million net per season, plus around €1 million in bonuses, and his current deal expires in 2026. The idea is to extend until 2028 and increase his salary a little, which the midfielder is happy with.
