Nicolo Barella has accepted the terms of a new contract with Inter, just a few months after turning down an approach from Manchester City.
During the final week of the summer mercato, Pep Guardiola’s team contacted the Nerazzurri to officially request information on the Italian midfielder, interested in a late transfer for the 27-year-old. Talks did not progress, however, with Barella making it clear that he wasn’t interested. Barella has continued to be an essential part of Simone Inzaghi’s Inter team this season, clocking up almost 2,200 minutes of action in 31 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and providing five assists in that time. Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Barella has accepted a slight increase in his new contract with Inter , which is set to run until June 2029. He currently earns around 6 million euros net per season and this will rise to 7 million euros net through the inclusion of accessible add-ons. The Nerazzurri have begun to base their new contracts on a substantial fixed salary with lucrative bonuses linked to their work in the Champions League and the new Club World Cup.
