José Mourinho was recently sacked as Roma coach. Immediately afterwards, he was rumoured to be moving to Napoli. However, his agent Aurelio De Laurentiis was quick to rule out this possibility. While the Special One did not want Saudi Arabia, he finally opted for Spain, with the possibility of returning to Barcelona.
“José is not part of our plans. It was never a possibility, despite the rumours. I don’t think his future lies in Italy,” José Mourinho told Mundo Deportivo. If Saudi Arabia isn’t on the agenda, the options are narrowing for the Portuguese. PSG has already been snapped up by Luis Enrique, and although Liverpool and Klopp are over, Xabi Alonso is the potential replacement. One last option remains in Spain. Xavi is currently in the hot seat. Given the friendship between Mendes, Mourinho’s agent and Barça sporting director Deco, the former Chelsea man’s return to the club could be on the cards.
