Bad news for Napoli as star striker Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of the upcoming match against AC Milan due to injury.
The 24-year-old Nigerian striker played in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers during this international break, playing 90 minutes in a 1-0 loss to Guinea-Bissau. He did not participate in the second match with Guinea-Bissau, which took place three days later. As announced by Napoli, Osimhen returned from international duty complaining of discomfort in his left adductor muscle. A series of medical tests confirmed that he was suffering from a distractive injury, an injury that could keep him out for several weeks.
The Nigerian star is likely to miss the next clash with AC Milan on April 2 and is also likely to be ruled out of their two Champions League quarterfinal clashes with the Rossoneri, scheduled for April 12 and 18. Osimhen has been one of Napoli’s stars this season, scoring 21 goals in 23 Serie A games.
