The summer mercato is currently in full swing in Europe. In Italy, Napoli are trying to shore up Victor Osimhen, while the big Saudi cheques are trying to snatch the Nigerian centre-forward. To this end, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis is trying to insert a clause that should keep the Saudi Pro League clubs away.
According to Sky Sports, Aurelio De Laurentiis is in talks with Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda about renewing the Nigerian’s contract. A seventh meeting took place yesterday between the two parties. The club president is hoping to set a release clause that would be substantial enough for clubs in Europe. This could be in the region of 150 million euros. For Saudi clubs, the amount is likely to be doubled to almost 300 million euros. A deal that could keep the clubs away. As a reminder, Al Hilal are keen to recruit the former Wolfsburg player. The club is even offering him an annual salary of 52 million euros.
