Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis sent out a curious message after their dismal 0-0 draw with Bologna, provoking a furious response from fans calling for Rudi Garcia to be sacked.
The Partenopei were held to a draw last night at the Stadio Dall’Ara, have just two points from their last three Serie A games and are already seven points behind leaders Inter in defense of their Scudetto. Despite all this, De Laurentiis wrote this message on his official Twitter account: “Napoli start again from Bologna. Well done to all! Some asked if it was a fake account or if it had been hacked. Others joked that he must have programmed the publication on social networks and assumed that they would win the game, or that they had downloaded the wrong message from the drafts. Calls are rapidly growing from Napoli fans to get Garcia out, as he has struggled to create any kind of bond with the players following Luciano Spalletti’s departure.
This tension was evident yesterday when Napoli fans in the crowd loudly jeered Garcia’s decisions to replace Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen. Even Osimhen reacted angrily to being replaced as his team chased victory. The main appeal came from the fans, who urged De Laurentiis to replace Garcia while there was “still time” to save the season.
