Napoli and president Aurelio De Laurentiis have officially announced the signing of Hamed Junior Traoré from Bournemouth on loan with the right to buy.
The Partenopei officially lodged Traoré’s documents with Lega Serie A earlier on Wednesday evening. The 23-year-old joins the Stadio Maradona on an initial six-month loan, with Napoli retaining the right to buy outright for €25 million. Traoré passed his medical in Naples on Tuesday before signing his contract. He is not expected to travel to Saudi Arabia to join his team-mates for the Supercoppa Italiana, which kicks off in Riyadh on Thursday evening. This is a return to Serie A for Traoré, who spent three years in Empoli’s academy before joining Sassuolo in 2019, where he made a total of 108 appearances in the top flight. Including his time at Empoli, Traoré already has 150 Serie A appearances to his name and a further 10 in the Premier League at the age of 23. As usual with Napoli signings, president De Laurentiis was the first to officially announce the news on social networks. His tweet was shortly followed by the club’s official press release.
